Smetana Trio returned from England

Smetana Trio returned from England on 11. 3. 2013, where it was invited to three concert’s performances organized by England agency Margaret Murphy Management. It performed in Bath (2. 3.), in Sturminster Newton (8. 3.) and Southend on Sea (10. 3.). The program of the concerts was Trio in G major KV 564 by W. A. Mozart, Trio Dumky Op. 90, "Dumky" and Trio in C major, Op. 87 by J. Brahms. Artists reaped great success and brought an invitation to London's famous Wigmore Hall in 2014. In April 2013, the Smetana Trio going on tour to the USA., where it will perform in five concerts in San Diego, Los Angeles, Vancouver and New York. In the meantime, it will make several performances in Bohemia – e.g. 2 concerts in the Pardubice Musical Spring festival in April. more


Organist Pavel Svoboda won the 3rd prize at the International Organ Competition in Germany.

He succeeded in the middle of international leading organists from many countries (Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Korea, etc.) in the 36th annual Internationale Orgelwoche in Korschenbroich, Germany. The program held baroque works by Dietrich Buxtehude, J. S. Bach and compositions of the Romantic period by C. Franck, Ch.-M. Widor and M. Reger. This organ competition has a great tradition in Korschenbroich, where this city in North Rhine-Westphalia dominated the Church of St. Andreas with a huge 4 manual’s organ from 1953 year. more


Smetana Trio cordially invites to Prague Atria

We would like to invite all lovers of beautiful music and fans of the Smetana Trio to Prague Atria in Žižkov on 13th March 2013 at 7.30 PM at the concert in the cycle Meeting in Žižkov. During the evening, which is devoted to German composers, be heard Piano Trio in B flat major, Op. 11 by L. van Beethoven, Imaginative Piece for Cello and Piano No. 1 by R. Schumann and Piano Trio in C major, Op. 87 by J. Brahms. The guest of the concert is the Czech writer, editor and translator Radka Denemarková, winner of numerous awards in the literature, including the Magnesia Litera 2007, 2009 and 2011. The whole evening will be accompanied by pianist Ivo Kahánek. more


Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc is going to another French tour

Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc together with the Prague Chamber Choir and soloists Zdena Kloubová, Veronika Hajnová, Josef Moravec and Roman Vocel leaves on the fortnight’s tour to France on 11. 3. 2013. With "the Mozart’s program" where Requiem is a pivotal composition, it will perform under the conductor by Jan Chalupecký in Besancon, Lyon, Lons-le Saunier, Villefranche sur Saone, Annecy, Evian, Vienne, Gap and Manosque. It is already the twelfth tour over the past four years, which the art agency TRIART Management Ltd. holds along with its French partner. more


Smetana Trio re going to England

Smetana Trio re going to England. In March, it performs at concerts in Bath (2. 3.), Sturminster Newton (8. 3.) and Southend on Sea (10. 3.). The program will feature works by W. A. Mozart, A. Dvořák and J. Brahms. England becomes a regular concert gig for this exceptional Czech ensemble. In the autumn 2013 the Smetana Trio will go for another tour, which includes its prestigious performance in London, and just before the finalization is another concert tour in 2014. more


Smetana Trio comes to Skuteč

Smetana Trio will be a guest of the jubilee, 10th annual music festival Tomášek and Novák Music Skuteč on Wednesday, 27 February 2013. The concert will be held in the City Museum in Skuteč at 7.30 PM. During the evening will feature music by W. A. Mozart, A. Dvořák and J. Brahms. more


Pianist Jitka Čechová and cellist Jan Páleníček concerts this week in Bohemia

On Thursday, February 7, 2013 they visit Polička, the birthplace of B. Martinů, where be heard in their performance music by J. Brahms and B. Martinů in Tyl’s House at 7 PM. On Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 6 PM they perform in the Concert Hall of the Prague Conservatory in Prague with clarinetist Richard Pawlas. The program will be trios for clarinet, piano and cello by L. v. Beethoven, M. I. Glinka and J. Brahms. more


Jiří Vodička and Jan Páleníček record Johannes Brahms with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra

After the Smetana Trio realized all five trios by Johannes Brahms in a complete of 2 CD by Supraphon in Autumn 2012, it continues in a great project of recording of works by J. Brahms with recording its concert works. Just today a violinist Jiří Vodička and a cellist Jan Páleníček begin a recording of Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra in A minor, Op. 102 by Johannes Brahms with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Ondřej Kukal. The next part of the recording will be in Autumn and on the program will be Brahms's Piano Concerto in D minor, Op. 15 in the interpretation of Jitka Čechová accompanied by the same orchestra directed by Ondřej Kukal. more


Organ recital by Pavel Svoboda in the Hall of B. Martinů

Organ recital by Pavel Svoboda, a student of the Faculty of the Music and Dance Academy AMU, will be held in the Hall of Bohuslav Martinů of the Music Academy of the Performing Arts in Prague on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 7.30 PM. Pavel Svoboda introduced himself in the program consisting of German and French organ literature. In the first half of the concert he performs serious works of D. Buxtehude, J. S. Bach and M. Reger and in the second half of the concert be heard a part of the famous Symphony in G Minor by Ch. M. Widor and Marcel Dupré’s virtuoso variations. Pavel Svoboda is one of the most successful young generation of organists, graduated in the Univerzität der Künste in Berlin, also devotes to dramaturgy and as a co-organizer of several classical music festivals. He became the artistic director of the International Music Festival of F. L. Věk. more


Smetana Trio welcomed 2013 year in Switzerland

Smetana Trio along with the Swiss clarinetist Wenzel Grund welcomed the New Year in Switzerland with New Year's concert in the hall of the Burgdorf’s Town Hall on 2 January 2013. "World class in Burgdorf" was a subtitle of the ceremonial, 10 Anniversary New Year's concert, in which were heard composition by L. van Beethoven, M. I. Glinka, W. A. Mozart and A. Dvořák. This world-known ensemble, winning a number of prestigious awards, prepared an especial experience on 15 January 2013 with a concert in the chamber series Les Mardis en Musique (Tuesdays with Music) at the Great Auditorium Jean-Pierre Dautel in Caen, France. During the evening the Smetana Trio presented pieces by V. Novák, A. Dvořák and J. Brahms. Almost a thousand spectators rewarded artists by appreciative and chant applause, which required a three encores. more
